Farewell for Now

I have enjoyed playing around a bit on blogger over the last couple of weeks, but as most of you know, real life does not permit me to linger long.  The Hubby and I have some new music we would like to record and I've still some painting outdoors to get done. I hope to return by the end of July, but one month often turns into two, so I shall make no promises on when I will return.

I have, however, managed to get a few pieces off the painting table this week.

This is a 28mm figure from Reaper Miniatures Deadland Noir collection and was sculpted by Bob Ridolfi.

A gentleman from Lead Adventures Forum requested that I paint up a Fantasy piece for him. I agreed, but only if I had final say on the figure.  This is a 28mm heroic scale from Tale of War and was sculpted by Simon Remis.

This little gal was sent to me by Clint last year. It was a figure he got at Salute and although she doesn't look that complicated, I've had to strip the paint from her twice to get her completed.

She reminds me of myself when I was a little girl.

For quite some time now I've been knocking about the idea of painting some WWII figures. Finally, I have given in and made a few purchases.  These are British Forward Observation Officers from Bolt Action. They have plenty of detail, loads of character and should be fun to paint up.

I have also purchased from Perry Miniatures, Vickers machine gun and four crew.  As one would expect, I am quite pleased with the figures and look forward to working on them.  I'm also quite keen to paint up some German Afrika Corp figures and vehicles.  Now, I do not plan on making a switch to painting all historical figures. Rather I would like to add them to what I already do.

As my Jazz Quartet is nearly finished, they will be the first figures I post when I return,. I also have some Hasslefree figures that are nearly done and will complete those. Shortly after that, the WWII figures will be posted.

I hope all of you enjoy your summer as I intend to enjoy mine. I may wander in from time to time and say hello.  But for now, I shall say farewell.

    1. I'm very excited about the WWII figures. I began ordering new paint yesterday. There will be a lot of reading involved if I'm to get things right. Don't know that' I'll be able to please the rivet counters but I'll do my best.

    1. I'm down to just the details with the quartet, then I'll have to sculpt the bases. The Bolt Action figures are really nice and the price is pretty good. Got my eyes on some more!

Recording with The Hubby is fun, but it's also where I do what I'm told. Not an easy thing for a girl like me to tolerate :0)

  7. Anne, take your time. Life with the family is far too important to neglect. We are patient as is the WWW. Enjoy the recording and take care when painting, be sure to wear a suitably silly, yet protecting, hat!

    Cheers Sander

    1. One of the nicest things about this particular group of people on blogger is that we don't expect people to post regularly or on a schedule. We come and go as we please and we don't forget one another.

I do have a hat now for gardening. It's a great floppy khaki affair and I love it!

  8. Just don't spend too much time in the sun, dear! Or we shall have to send you a huge hunk to keep you shaded there with his muscles :)
That little gal is so sweet! Looks like she could rule the Kingdom with her trusted sidekick Salamander!

She is adorable isn't she. If only I'd have had a dragon when I was little. There would be far fewer annoying people in my village :0)

    2. just imagine the fun of having a dragon! We could merilly picking shrooms in the forest feeding little bunnies and possums with blueberry muffins while our dragon would frolic around us eating little nasty trolls and other deserving pixies....

    1. The first time I painted her, I did the dress in a rose colour and it looked awful. Way to bright. Then I did it in a pale brown and used a wash. Made a complete mess of it. Finally I settled on this Russet Brown. It's doing those deep folds that kill me Clint.

I'll pop round to see you from time to time!

  15. Wow, we have so much in common! I've been painting outside today, and am also looking to record some music soon too. Of course, it's winter over here, so not nearly as nice to be outdoors, especially when you want paint to dry! Fantastic work on the figures, your use of colour always inspires me :-)

  16. Recording music? Now that is really awesome! Anyplace I can go to listen?

  20. Hi, Anne! You do outstanding work! Even if I had your artistic ability, I doubt that I would have the patience to work on miniatures. The detail is astonishing. I hope you will stay in touch during your summer break. I will be thinking about you and eagerly awaiting your return. I look forward to listening to your new recordings on YouTube and examining your painted creations here on your blog. Please take good care of yourself, dear friend Anne!

  24. Great display of your miniature painting talents. All subjects are wonderfully presented; yet, the first character in the queue makes me happy as I imagine him tap dancing the day away. Enjoy your summer alot!

  25. Running away again? Geez, with you and old one eye gone the cat has no one to make fun of haha

Enjoy the summer, except avoid the heatstroke again, don't need a repeat of that. Recording music I bet will be fun too, can get your own youtube channel going strong

  26. Been absent from your blog for awhile. Great looking figures, I'm still trying to resist pulp/noire in 28mm. I look forward to seeing your ww2 figures when you return. Have a great summer.

  27. The deadland noir fellow is really sharp! Very good work on them all! I'll look forward to your WW2 stuff be it August or first frost. ;) I've been busy myself with training, work, and kids in sports/camps, gardening too.
FYI I've suffered from heat and dehydration due to desert warfare for sometime. Get a gallon jug and fill it every night before bed. Drink the whole thing before super and make sure you drink an additional glass of water with meals. Since I've adopted this stratagem, I've not had one conversation with Bob Villa or Elvis Presley! Coffee, tea, and power/gator aide may still be drunk but you also need a glass of water with them.
Yes, I'm aware you don't wear all the heavy fatigues and body armor I do, but heat illnesses are no joke!
Unless you hallucinate like I do, then it's apparently very funny for " friends" ;)

  31. Do you ever upload your music anywhere, like YouTube or some other site?

Looking forward to the Jazz Quartet when it's finished.

Speaking of Jazz, the first two songs I wanted to use for my July 1st BOTB, I had to give up on, unable to find versions I wanted at YT. But my third option turned out to be a winner. It will be very interesting because the cover is very, very different from the original and yet it has a lot going for it. One thing I'm sure of, this will be no shutout.

    Yak Later, Anne...

Hope your summer's going well, the beetles have left the roses alone, you and hubby are enjoying movie madness
    and kitty fang is well.

I was beyond outraged to the point where vulgarities were the only thing coming out of my mouth about Cecil....and this helped neither him, or the work Oxford did.

I too can talk for hours about issues that mean something to me, so I know where you're coming from. While I abhor politics regardless of the nation it's coming from, I pray to God Cecil did not die in vain and that this opens everyone's eye to poaching, trophey hunting, neglect, abuse, conservation, the almighty F'in dollar and the true price that's paid with it...

and now it's my turn to shut up or I'll be hear all day...and I AM supposed to be working !! :P

A great weekend to you and yours, nose kisses to kitty fang, and hopefully the troll delivers this to your in box like he should !!
