Reaper Illyrian Ranger

Since I began my love affair with Pulp, I've been on a painting binge and have finally put down the brush for a few days to take a breather and actually post some of the figures I've completed. At the moment I'm not quite certain how big the back log is, but I'm pretty sure there's enough for two months of posts.

This little guy is from Reaper Miniatures, is 25mm and was sculpted by Patrick Keith. He's an Illyrian. Although this figure is stocked by Reaper it can be used in Counterblast.  The game is owned and created by Patrick Keith and Illyrians are characters in the Counterblast Game.

As I'd like to explore other areas of the Pulp genre, I currently have a Cave Woman VS the Alien Spider dio on the workbench.  I've acquired some Dinosaurs, some Pygmy's, an Archaeologist and some Amazon females. Also I've begun my car collection. I've only three cars yet and one is  a 1906 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. I hope to purchase some figures from Pulp Alley to go with it next month.

It appears as if Autumn is upon us and I certainly hope you all are experiencing some pleasantly mild weather

  5. Car collection!?! Have you just revealed yourself as Jerry Seinfeld? The character is great. The shading around the wrinkles in the suit are a good touch.

  9. I love it how you're getting those lovely warm shades on your figurines, dahlink, you have progressed so much over the years in this!
The Autumn came here today with some really cold temps, it's been between 10 and 16*C and we've had first snow at the mountains in the south today too! I shall put out my Autumn layout today at the blog to mark it :)

    1. It's down to 4 C here at night, but that's good sleeping weather for me. Daytime is about the same as yours. We've no mountains here, all flatlands. I don't want to see snow on this ground till Christmas. Or never.

    2. I like it colder too for sleeping.... but I don't wanna winter come too early this year due to the gas issues and the fact that our government has cut all salaries and pensions and people will simply starve especially since some of our powerplants and mines are still down from the floods...

It's already 15cm of snow at our most famous mountain Kopaonik....

Is you preparing your garden for the winter sleep?

    3. Jesus, it's going to be a brutal Winter for all of you methinks. I wasn't aware of the salary and pension cuts though. People will starve and they will die. Especially the very young and the old. It's a horrid world we live in.

Ya, I'm getting things finished up for the season. I'm also working on next years garden. The new one takes up a quarter of the back yard and I'm expanding it now to take up a full half. I'm to have it all flowers with only paths cut through it for me to walk. This will leave me with only one small area that is not completely covered in flowers. You should see all my gorgeous butterflies and bees this year. It's magnificent!

    4. Yep, the freakin cut of the salaries and pensions is the latest hit of our disgusting government. Can you imagine taking a 10 to 20% cut from a pension or salary that is not more than 300$ a month???? And all the prices are rising again too... especially the essentials such as electricity, bus tickets, heating.... Not to mention that not a single person who lost their house in the floods have got a new one....and it is already below ten *C at night...

We do expect some photos of your garden, dear, but you is all talk and no show :)))

  12. Your yellows are really popping! I really like the colors on this guy. The plastic helmets are in so I'm hoping to see my Counter Blast stuff coming shortly. I have some competition pieces in that order that I'm itching to get started on.

    1. I used Reaper Harvest Gold as a base colour then Palomino Gold and worked up to Buckskin Pale for the highlights.

What figs are you using and what competition are you painting for?

    2. It will be for ReaperCon 2015 and its the heroine in the spacesuit. I don't remember her name now. I still have to find a saw to cut out my fancy bases with though.

    3. I know which one you're talking about, but I can't remember her name. She's part of the Babe Collection, yes?

    4. Yes, she is. I skipped her in their first kickstarter and have regretted it, so I figured I would add her this timer around. Sally Starfield!

  13. I'm still not entirely sure of what an Illyrian is but I love what you've done with it. Very solid coloring. And as a gearhead, I have to say I'm very excited to see what you do with that Rolls Royce Silver Ghost.

  28. What a great looking fella. Very nice painting. His yellow uniform is really well done. Getting yellow toned up like that I find is very hard with acrylics.
