Counterblast Mekku Aggressor #2

As some of you may know (because I can't shut up about it), I received my KS from Counterblast Miniatures in the post.  The KS delivered on time and the figures had even more detail than I expected.

Filled with so much Pulpy goodness, I had a hard time deciding on what to paint up first. Truly I wish I had four eyes and four hands right now (please don't picture that).  Finally I settled on the Mekku Aggressor #2.

There were two of these in the package and I'm going to do the other one in a different palette to see which one you guys like the best. I'm trying to work my way up to painting the Central Command Unit, which is a large piece and is extremely detailed and complex.  I won't be doing that one until the Winter Analogue Painting Challenge and it will likely take a month to paint.

Last week my father-in-law was admitted to hospital with congestive heart failure so I was a bit sketchy about reading blogs. I got to as many as I could. He's still in ICU but is now stable and we hope he can come home soon. I will be in today, but will be going back and forth to visit him for the remainder of the week.  I will stop in as I am able.

    1. We thought he was getting better on Sunday, but he took a bad turn and has only a short time left. Hoping he survives the night so I can see him one more time tomorrow.

  6. Sorry to hear about your pop, Anne, glad to hear he's doing better. Is it just me, or does that fig have kind of a TIE Fighter thing going on?

    1. I just love the Mekkus. Patrick Keith is hoping to sculpt a rocket rider that looks like the Tiger fighter in WWII.

  7. Sorry to hear about father in law, dear :( It really isn't what you need on top of all the problems life is pooping over us.... How are mother in law and hubby coping?

    1. The Hubby is being strong for his mom. She's not doing well at the moment and has to be reminded to eat. They've been together for over 50 years.

    2. that is so sad, dear. Will she be able to live alone if the sad thing happens? Hope you have enough strength too, because I'm guessing you are the main coordinator and operative in the family now..... Were you personally close to the father in law?

    3. In time my mother in law will bounce back. I can see her one day spending more time with her friends and even travelling overseas.

I'm much closer to him than I ever was to my dad. I've so many happy memories of him and such funny stories of the pranks he pulled. I'll never forget him.

    4. the same was with my mother, she is now much more active and is spending more time with the neighbours than when my father was alive. She is even gardening, which she didn't do when he was alive because garden was his territory....

What is the situation at the hospital today?

    5. Dahlink, I'm guessing the situation with the in-laws is now serious, but just wanted to drop by to tell you I'm thinking of you on your Birthday today and sending you a hug and a kiss!

  8. Wouldn't want to get in a fight with that, awesome job. You shut up? When do you shut up about anything? lol you left that open for the cat.

Hopefully your father in law is out of there and better soon.

  9. I love that one Anne! Colors look good with nice transitions and can see why you are enjoying the Sci/Fi stuff so much. Right now I'm concentrating on Marines, but I have some CounterBlast stuff coming from their KS (its late, sigh).

    1. You ordered the GDF then. Yeah those clear helmets are holding things up for you. You are so going to love your stuff when it comes in. The original pictures didn't do justice to the figures. They're way better than what I expected.

    2. I did, need those space helmets for a scene I'm working on for ReaperCon. It would be nice to have you there in April!

    3. I thought I would like to go to ReaperCon, but after hanging out on the forums a while, I'm not so sure anymore. The place is over taken by idiots that behave like teenagers. I can barely tolerate them on line. In real life, I'd likely smack them sideways.

    1. I just love these figures. I've got one that looks like a tank too. I've got to figure out how to gunk of the treads on it. I want it to look beaten up like the historical gamers do their tanks.

  24. You know me, my memory sucks so I can't recall how tiny this mini is but I remember the other one was pretty dang small. So, if the base was next to a penny, how much bigger would the base be?

I love the paint job on this one, Anne. My eye was drawn to the base - that color - it's just, hmm, eye-catching is all I can think of at the moment. I love it!

    1. The base is about the size of a nickel.

You're eye is drawn to the base and not the big blue and yellow figure on top of it. I must have really effed this figure up if that's the case.
