My Blog Isn't Updating

I've  been having trouble over the past few weeks with my blog updating. I post and it will not show up on blogrolls or on the dashboard for 4-7 hours after I've published it. And when it does come up, it's buried underneath a mountain of other posts. It won't even show up on my blogroll or dashboard for many hours and when it does, I'm buried underneath all the blogs that have recently posted. Which means, I am never at the top of a blog roll. And blog rolls are the life blood of gamers.

This little glitch has cut my page views in half. I have to get this fixed before my Give Away on Monday and certainly before The Neapolitan Painting Challenge.

I've tried posting from different servers, logging out and logging back in and going back in, changing one small thing and the re-posting. Nothing works.

Does any one have the solution to this?

I'm posting now for the third time. I started doing this at 6:00 a.m. BST.

  1. On occasion I tend to experience the same thing but luckily for me it tends to resolve itself. Sorry that I do not have a solution. :(

One thing though, and I hope this is helpful, another blogger once experienced his blog not updating at all. Later he found out it had something to do with the feedburner or something to that effect. Hopefully someone else can provide you with the solution.

    1. Just to add. I just noticed that your blog is not updating on my blogroll too. :( Try contacting blogger / google company itself as a last resort.

    2. I do have some sort of feedburner, but I don't even know what it is or how it got there. Contacting blogger is hopeless as they never get back to you.

I'll try to find a way to get rid of the feedburner thingy.

  2. I don't know much in the way of a solution but I will say I've not had any problems with your page updating. I use inoreader though, rather than the actual blogger feed. The last time I saw someone with this problem it kind of just fixed itself.

    1. Gamers tend to work off of their blogrolls. And we also go from blog to blog visiting pages as the list at the top. I've lost all of that traffic.

This has been going on for over a month and shows no sign of stopping.

  3. I think it is a problem of Blogger there are surely updates at the moment.

    1. Blogger is always having one problem or another and they usually resolve themselves. This one isn't going away, at least not for me.

    2. I've noticed lately that I've missed posts from my fellow bloggers. I check them every night and now I wonder if the root of it is just Blogger being wonky. Or maybe it's the drinking. ;-)

  4. No solution, just rambling as I promised.

I did think about it though, and yes, your page has seldom been at the top of my blog roll. I did go back a bit and realised I had missed a couple of your posts, simply by not seeing them.

    Bummer.

    1. I've heard that from a lot of people recently. Because my blog updates after it's been up for 4 to 7 hours, it's buried and no one sees it. Someone even put a post on TMP asking why I'd stopped blogging.

  5. I've had the same problem one time (if I remember, it was with "The Lost New World" blog) but I don't know how I've resolved the problem!!

Blogger is full of bad things. I've since 10 days some bots which seem to artificially increase my statistics !
for informatioo, it's "vampirestat" (or "wampirestat"), jetsli, r.e.f.e.r.e, ....
it seems that they are not dangerous but it's better if you don't click on them !

I will add some screen copies in my next post.

    1. Vampirestats web crawled me as well. Something called googlewatchdog has also crawled me.

They do want you to click on them and I think that's why they hit our pages repeatedly.

    2. Yep, I also see that a lot now. And I've got one post that is generating a lot och hits, most from unidentified sources - I don't even see country of origin. Really irritating.

  6. The good new is that you update immediately in Feedly!
There are several blogs I follow that lag in update time in my sidebar. I only use that when blogging from my iPad.

    1. I know I'm showing up in Feedly, but from what I can figure out, only 28 people view me through Feedly! Everyone else comes through their blogrolls or through their dashboards. Frustrating!

    2. As of right now it has been 4 hours since I posted and I don't appear on blogrolls or on dashboards.

  7. It's now been almost 7 hours and no one knows this darn post has been written, so I republished. Still no luck. HELP!!!

    1. and do you adjust the date too, every time, dear? That's important. It's in the right side of the box for writing posts.

    2. PS I think Blogger just ate my previous comment :( I wrote you an address where you can report the problem, dear:
      https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!categories/blogger/something-is-broken

    3. if you report your problem there, one of the administrators will help you. They helped me when my blog was deleted because somebody tried to hack into my account.

    4. I get the date right darling. I have asked them for help, but they have yet to get back to me. The problem is getting worse. Every time I post, it takes longer and longer to update.

I'm also running a Malware scan on my computer right now.

    5. just post your question with the problem there in that forum, dear, they answer within an hour or so, depending how busy they are.

    6. holy crap, I'm no longer Anne, they've added some bizare q&#39 to my name. I hate you blogger!!!

    7. It's kicking in the crackers time Anne, I think they don't like semi colons, colons or apostrophes!

      Delete
    8. darling, they're playing with your mind.... it's an intergalactic conspiracy! We won't let them get to you... unless we're threaten by guns :P

    9. I see that you left them the help question, dear, just be patient. I waited for a few hours for an answer back then, but I got it eventually.

    10. They've given me an answer, but it is a useless answer. Those are "stock" answers and I already knew to do those things and did them hours and hours ago. I need individual help and I doubt I'll get it.

    11. I've checked it out, dear, and I see that Nitecruzr is helping you, he is very kind and patient always. He sent you another question there, so if you work with him, I'm sure he will help you somehow. Just be patient, it is not easy for him either to understand the problem.

  8. I had that problem yesterday too, as you noted in commenting on my blog. Fucking Blogger! I don't know if there's anything that can really be done about it. Just have to wait and hope they resolve the issue themselves.

  9. Been there before a time or two at my shore. I found many linked to the google + crap page, tend not to update fast, probably some glitch there.

Also for some strange reason the gfc widget can sometimes cause it. No idea why, but I once deleted that (and for good measure every other widget on the side of my blog), kept them off for five minutes then put then back on and poof, all better.

    Google is useless for help.

    ReplyDelete
  10. No, it's not the google+ thing. This has been happening for weeks now. I just added the google + crap now, hoping that would help. It didn't.

Now they've crapped up my name with some weird garbage. Everytime these bastards say they are changing something they just mess up everything else.

Yeah, I won't get an answer from them.

  11. Just a word of caution Anne ... I have heard that constant updating of a post will make blogger classify that blog URL as spam. Not sure if it is even true, but just to share what I read online sometime ago.

    1. Now that would be rich. I only post 5 to 7 times a month and they'd classify me as spam. If I posted any less, I'd not have a blog at all!

    2. What I meant was constantly pressing update button for one particular post. :)

By the way, your blog IS updating on my blog roll but it is just late as you said. Now it is showing this post instead of the two you posted after this one.

  13. Blog Roll is utter shite. I use my reading lost from the blogger home page to catch up on blogs.

  14. Mine says published 19 minutes ago in my blogger account but 3 hours ago on my blog, perhaps constantly republishing the same article is causing the issue, but then thinking about it blogger does this from time to time forno explained reason.

  15. I am sorry that I am no help. Only to say that I've had this problem as well. It's just odd. Hope it gets worked out for you soon.

PS: It's cool and overcast today. I've got the day off to rest, working the weekend, but for now, I gotta say, I'm happy to be home.

PPS: We can't get our pups off the couch either but you know, I don't own a couch just so it can't be used. I don't mind the dog hair.

  16. I hate when blogger pulls this crap. It does it to me on occasion but its never been for longer than a week and its always resolved itself. And I wholeheartedly believe it has a punctuation problem. It can't understand how its more effective to use all of those characters when a simple apostrophe is all that's necessary. Sending
some positive energy over the interwebz

  17. Definitely do NOT get rid of the feedburner. When feedburner gives issues is when you mess with it after it's already established. Feedburner just provides the RSS to the rest of the blogrolls, when you switch the feedburner (or if it gets switched by accident) it causes the blog not to show up AT ALL, that's not your problem.

I can only recommend one thing, and it's kinda the silliest possible thing. It's possible that the problem is your cache, and hence other bloggers' caches respectively would make it seem for them that it doesn't update. I would just.. clear your cache, check the blog rolls again. It's probably not the solution, but it might be, and it's harmless to the blog.

  18. Lots of people's posts are delayed right now. Have no idea what is to be done about it. Mine have been coming up about an hour after I post . I see others that are twelve hours late. So frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Mine take about a day or so to show up on my Blogger reading list as well, and other people's usually take an hour or two. Google's been changing lots of things lately, this might have been influenced in some way.

  20. Hola

  21. As far as I know, there's nothing you can actually do. I've had it happen before, but, even when it's happening to me (as in I put up a post, and it's not showing on my blogroll), it's not happening to my wife (as in my post is showing on hers just fine). I think the real key is to make sure you're sharing your posts to FB and google+ and wherever else people might be seeing them just to make sure they have the chance.

  22. Me too. Two posts ago it was 3 days b4 it showed up on blog roll!

  23. Blogger is buggy. You can try posting the question in blogger's report a problem forum, but every time i have I got no help. I haven't experienced this problem before, but i know i completely missed your neopolitan post until I saw you reference 2 previous updates and i didnt remember seeing 2 and went back to check. I tend to look at my blogroll in my dashboard, and when i see the last from the last time I looked, then i know i've seen all the new blog updates, but if this bug delays showing yours until it's well past older than others and places it in chronological order, then yeah, I wouldn't see it and I bet a lot of others wouldn't either.

a few times I have thought about saving money and switching my studio site to just using a blogger blog, but it's so buggy with no tech support I fear things like the blog just disappearing & such that I have heard happens.

so yeah.. i have nothing constructive to offer. first I've heard of this problem. and sounds like only blogger can fix it, it wouldn't be anything about your own page code.

  24. I too have had the same thing. Changed things, re posted but still nothing. Seemed to come right by itself when I next posted something different, but it is very annoying.
