Coming Up for Air

For the last week I've been finishing up my figures for the Pulp Competition over at Reaper Miniatures. In total, I painted 7 figures and competed in three categories.

I submitted the last entry just a few hours before the deadline and in order to make it I had to stay up for 48 hours. Then I collapsed into a heap and slept.

This is why I've been absent from blogger. But I am so very glad to be back as I've missed you all. I'll be back to daily reading and commenting today and hope to have a proper post up on Thursday or Friday.

And just to remind you all that the Neapolitan Painting Challenge is still on, I'll leave you with a Blonde Joke.

A Police car pulled alongside a speeding car on the motorway. Glancing at the car he was astonished to see that the blond behind the wheel was knitting! Realizing that she was oblivious to his flashing lights and siren, the cop rolled down his window and shouted "PULLOVER!". The blonde rolled down her window and yelled back "NO, IT'S A SCARF!".

We will have a date for you as soon as Marzio receives his sculpt from the manufacturer. I fear he's having Degra custom sculpt one for him because it's taking so bloody long for the thing to arrive.

Well folks, I think it's Tuesday but it could be Friday, I really don't know. So take it slow today and be sure to look both ways before you cross the street. I know I will.

    1. Betty the Space Heroine one of them and I'll put her in my next post. The finished work looks completely different than when you saw it. I also did some 15mm tool bots. Those were the ones that kept me up for 24 hours as I was running behind due to re working Betty. Those bots are very Pulp.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what sculpts you two chose.

    1. This was my first competition and while I'm glad I did it, I don't plan on competing in many of these things. Competition really isn't my thing. I like Challenges and Duels, but competition really takes the fun out of the hobby.

  31. All the best Anne. 48 hours? Oh my I went through all that during my fresher/developer days. Not pretty, take care of your health Anne.

Blonde jokes I always love them, never get tired of those. Someone asked me why there are so many sardar and blonde jokes. I told them this "because they are the priviledged ones, they are given good looks, and smartness and so it is ok to make fun of the priviledged. Call English ugly, they will just crack up instead say Indians are ugly the PC police will have your head"

Personally, I have seen so many blondes but not one dumb one except the YouTube ones . Maybe they all are peroxide ones who knows.

    1. I have book smarts, but I'm daft. I learned to embrace my blondeness years ago and I love the jokes.

You can't make fun of Americans either, but I don't know why they get upset as they are so anti-PC and make fun of every nationality. The English have always had a great sense of humour and we Irish are used to being the red-headed step child of Europe. I'll be making Brunette and Red Head jokes next. Let's see how they handle it :)

      Delete
    2. America, PC non-PC is more like buffet option. And the PC , non-PC depends on the variables ethnicity, rich/poor, liberal/conservative all that.
To me they have PC and Non-PC in wrong places or swapped. see in books they have some Indian names like hardeepshit rao which is hard even for many Indians and when it comes to giving tickets for speeding they are so non-PC.

They should send all the keyword warriors in faux news and huffington post to Gautanamo Bay, or there should be an executive order signed to remove comments section in these. Poison through words.

Brunette and redhead jokes, I haven't heard much. I love the redheads and I always have the urge to touch the hair, texture of redhair is impressive than another hair, if there isn't already a name for this mania, I suggest mamtcmania /mamtcfetish - obsession or urge to touch redheads's hair.

    3. Let me try to rephrase again.
      PC in America :
4th grade math problem in a book.
Jagdepsit Rao runs 4 miles in 20 mins and Lazarosaloom runs 6 miles in 1 hour who can run faster.
Answer : solve the pbm takes 5 mins and to write or remember the name of the winner takes 50mins.

      Anti-PC in America :
      Zimmerman.

He gets donation in millions, labeled a hero, let off after murder and gets free pas when he is speeding ie he gets diplomatic immunity - all for killing a BLACK teenager.

    1. I'm a pretty slow painter. It normally takes me one to two weeks per figure so this was speed painting for me. I didn't really like the experience though and don't intend to repeat it. Competition just isn't in my blood. Challenges for fun yes, competition not my style.
