Under The Weather

I had two posts planned for this week and was really excited about them both, but I'm not feeling well enough to manage my blog properly. While at the doctors on Monday, as a matter of routine, they checked my blood pressure and it was high. When I say high I don't mean "Well you're getting to be that age" high so you need to watch what you eat. It's more like "Holy Christ, get this woman a shot of Demerol before she strokes out" high.

I know it might be hard for some of you to believe that an even tempered, calm person such as myself could have this problem, but I do. My problem isn't so much with the blood pressure, it's with the medication they put me on, which has the unfortunate side effect of making me feel tired. I'm sleeping almost all day and am having trouble staying awake. They tell me this will pass and I'm telling them it better or someone is going to find my boot up their backside.

I have one bit of business to take care of and that's with those of you who are using Dynamic View Layout. For some reason, I am not able to scroll down your pages far enough to get to your comments. I've tried going to your flipcards and then back to the post and I've tried going repeatedly to your posts from my blog roll. I don't know if it's my Windows 8 or if it's a problem with blogger. This has been going on for over a week, so I thought I'd better mention it.

I've set this to autopost and will be in to comment today. It may take me most of the day to do it, but I will get to everyone on my blogroll, so please be patient with me. Hopefully I will be posting a figure on Monday.

    1. If I knew I could get to every ones blog on time every day, I'd post. But truly it's not right to expect people to read me, when I'm running so far behind.

I've got some Sci-Fi figs coming in next week and I'm really excited about painting them up. They're to be for a competition at Reaper. I have to feel better by then as I'll have 4 figures to paint in 2 weeks.

I know what it's like when the docs prescribe a medication that actually makes you feel worse.

And if you could send me your postal address at sebastien (dot)gimeno(at)gmail.com, I might have something for you. Another form or medication I ' d say ;)

I'll drop you a line after I wake up from my next nap. Thanks Seb!

    1. You don't have dynamic view. It's one that was added last year some time and never caught on as there are lots of bugs with it. It's not very user friendly so I never switched to it.

Thank you Alex. I'm going back to sleep here in a few minutes:)

Yeah, I can get to Big Lee and to Paul now. I hope Ian reads this as I haven't been able to access his comment section for over a week.

    1. Our local grocer doesn't have them, but the Walmart got them. The Hubby says they have an exclusive deal with them for a couple weeks. They were out by the time I got there on Tuesday. I'd eat a whole box if I could!

I also like those Ding Dong things and I don't know if they are coming back. They taste really good after being put in the fridge for about an hour.

    2. I read about the Twinkies and the new company wrote that they didn't have a deal with any one retailer. But that some were selling theirs early. Who knows though. I do love the new box.

  21. sorry to hear this, dear :( Some medicines often have such horrid effects of making us drowsy and sleepy. I have that problem with pills for pollen allergies.
Do they know what's the cause of the high blood pressure? Stress? I've always said that if nothing else kills me, stress will :( Slowly, like a vicious nemesis...

Hope huby is OK? And kids? And Fang?

    1. I'll know more when the blood work comes back and I see where my triglycerides and cholesterol are at. I think some of it is stress and some of it is pain, but it was at 195/96 and that was a bit on the scary side. It's down to 159/95 right now, but that's still too much. I'll make some dietary changes and that should help some.

The Hubby is in very bad shape. He's falling down again and when he coughs it's cutting off his breathing. His primary insurance carrier is refusing to allow the surgery he needs, but his Neurosurgeon got the State to approve him for Medicare. That kicks in on August 1st so he's trying to hang on until then.

The kids are fine, but Fang is missing me being outside with her. This morning she was outside the front door crying for me. She won't come in though until it's Winter. Silly girl could sleep with Mommy, but she won't come in.

  22. Oh, I do hope they get your medication figured out. I'm on meds for something else, and it's the worst feeling when they're off the right dosage. I, too, end up wanting to sleep all day. Hope you are back to your calm, even-tempered, blond bombshell self again soon. :)

    1. They say this will level out after I adjust to the meds. I hate taking pills and if there is a way around it, I'll get off them ASAP. I know there are natural substances out there that can do the same thing and I'd rather go that route.

The one thing I won't do is change my nature. It can't be done, I've tried it and I don't like it. Who needs calm, calm is boring.

      Delete
    2. and being calm doesn't really help much :) I'm always calm and still have faster heartbeat than normal :( I should get on pills, but I have some of your Irish stubbornness :) and refuse to become meds taking person.

    3. I don't want to be a pill popper either. The long term use of meds have side-effects that can be debilitating when you get old. I want to be alert and functioning at 75, not drooling in a corner at an old folks home.

BTW, I'm glad you mentioned the dynamic view thing because I thought I was going crazy. I wondered if these blogs were not allowing comments, or what, but it's been happening to us too for the past week and we still can't find a solution.

    1. I thought it was just me as well, but it's them. That layout hasn't worked since blogger brought it out and really they should just scrap the thing. 39. I hope you start feeling better soon, my dear friend! I have been on blood pressure meds for my migraines and have had to come off of some of them due to marked drowsiness. It can be tough. I'm on a med now for my migraines that I had to stop and then start again (insurance problems) and it causes drowsiness. It took a month for me to get over the side effects. I hope yours passes soon, Anne. The important thing is to get that blood pressure down. It's not something to be messed around with.
