Baby Rays Wetnurse

No moon would be seen
on this desperate night
hiding herself
from mortal men's
sight.

For a storm
with great haste
departed Heaven's Gate.

Hurled by God
against his Host,
for lying
with women
His angels did boast

And the fruits of that labour
born by one
now lay
in his mothers arms.

"Who was this hellish child whose screams rent the night?"
                                                                                 O'Leary, Anne 03-08-13

"Took right to the nipple, he did" said Lord Rousell with pride as he watched his son feed.  "He's a lusty one."  Patting the back of Baby Ray's head, the Lady Rousell replied, "Just like his father he is,  always on the tit.  The boy's draining me dry!" she cried. "Get me a Wetnurse" she shrieked.

Many women were eager to take the job of suckling the Lord Rousell's son, but Baby Ray adamantly refused to feed from any of them. Until one day, Anna Bogna Pavlova arrived at the house.

Baby Ray squealed with delight when Anna took him into her arms and he began eagerly rooting for the nipple. "Such a beautiful baby", Anna cooed. "You shall be like one of my own. No harm will ever come to you my little babba."

And so she guarded him day and night, warning all but his parents away.  For Anna saw something no one else did.......

She saw his future, his destiny.  And she knew that one day he would play a great role in the fate of all mankind.

This is a 30mm figure from Hell Dorado. I took so many photo's of her because of the fun details in the sculpt. The goose hanging from her belt and all that wicked cutlery really sold me on this piece.

Okay folks, it's not quite Saint Patrick's day, but what the heck, let's celebrate.

Now don't ya wish you were Irish?

    2. You're right, it's been so long since you and I post on the same day! Rarer still we are posting at the same time but now you are napping and then I'll be napping when you're up again. Blasted computers. Blasted insomnia.

  2. Now that I've calmed down from being first, what a great rhyme, the cat will be envious for sure!

Seriously, I've always loved how well you can write and cherish the times when you write poetry to go with your posts. Another fine figure you've painted and she's got an ample bosom to feed even the hungriest of babies.

    Happy Almost Saint Patrick's Day!

    1. This poem came to me when I was drifting in and out of sleep at the tail end of a dream, so I just pounded it out. It fit the story so I posted it.

She could feed a whole litter of children!

    5. Some of the best rhymes and stories hit when I'm waking up or falling asleep. I'm glad you captured it.

Anne, you have every reason to be afraid. Be very, very afraid! The cat is just pure evil (and smelly too!)

    6. haha the smell keeps on bringing them in though. and yeah the random rhymes can be some of the best.

    1. If I've got Fran playing the hero, then it's a fair bet that Ray is playing the villain!

  14. Being Irish is indeed fairly awesome, as is the paint job on the figure. Although I'm not sure Ray would entirely approve. I love the poem at the start as well.

  17. Wow, what a Nanny: Sings songs, whistles for Little Ray, bashes heads with her Hell Dorado grained Head-Knuckler, dresses geese in blue, and doesn't smoke chew or hang around with those that do. I have a feeling that little Ray is going to grow up to be a spoiled bad boy.

  18. Oh, marvelous! She definitely has the BaZooms to be an awesome wet nurse. And I really like the background too -- even the little bit of moss, grass and pebbles that you put on the base.

  19. What a great poem. And, um, Anna there was born for that job. Nurse softly and carry a big stick. :))

    1. You have to know that he and Fran work together and have mock smack downs all the time. I'm always on Frans side and hassle Ray. Rousell gets back at me as well. You have to read them. Ray says horrid things about Fran and it's all in good fun.

  24. That might be your best paint job yet.
    And a great story, too!

    I'm Irish...

  30. Wonderful painting, Anne! Where do you find these figures? Just packed with detail. You have to love a woman who travels with dinner around her belt.

And your story just puts it all over the top.

  31. Those details are awesome, you most likely enjoyed painting her! And I like the story that goes with her. Then again, I also just like saying nipples, but I have a feeling I enjoyed it for more than just immature reasons.

  32. Great story, can't help laugh at this one... have visions of the wet nursing going on through Rays teens, and beyond! ;-)
    Nice paint job

  33. Right I am now incredibly scared!!!!!!!!!!!!

if that woman finds out that we are planning to push Ray down the water slide I don't think being on the other side of the world will save me, besides I have to do the deed, I am sure that she'll understand that you were just shipping him off for a long over due holiday.

well you and Fran can get away with it, I hope you do, if she finds out before I am bashed into a pulp I'll try and make sure you and Fran can escape blame. If I cannot, I'll see you in wherever we end up (do people who like models go to a separate place? away from all those others who enjoy silly things)
