Suzie Swagger

Suzie Swagger

Bronze skinned
she sits,
a promise
on your bed
glowing.

With one hand
your brow
she strokes
while
with the
other it's
your death
she's dealing.

                                                                           O'Leary, Anne 12-04-12

Suzie Swagger, better known as Mistress of the Seas, commanded a fleet of five ships. Unlike her contemporaries, Suizie refused to cut her hair or dress like a man in order to walk the boards of any sailing ship.  So fluid was her grace when wielding a scimitar men were known to stop in the act of dying just to gaze at her. She took command of her first ship after her husband came to a quick stop after a short drop at the hands of  Jack Ketch.

No death has ever been recorded for Suzie and some claim to have seen the blue of her eyes looking out from the prow of a ghostly ship that still sails the waters of the Pirate Round.

I'm pretty sure that this little lady won't have any problems whacking the head off a zombie when the time comes.

I've got all the Bushwoolies painted up and on Friday, I'll be writing about the creation and evolution of the little critters.

Well folks it's Wednesday also known as Hump Day. So if you're reading this from prison, don't bend over to pick up the soap. I know I wouldn't.

    1. Son of a bitch! Do you see why I hate commenting from my phone??? So when I typed "abs" into my phone, it auto corrected to ass...and so I didn't even think twice about typing "ass" and having it auto correct! And "ad" was ass. PFfft! I give up!

  2. That is one tough looking lady indeed. Add in the piracy and I'm all for it. She's well painted too, especially the eyes, which is probably why you drew focus to them.

  3. Just look at that scimitar! What a beauty; Suzie is delightful too. The work on the top is just fabulous Ann, great job.

    1. I painted the eyes that pale, pale blue to give her an otherworldly look as that has some bearing on the story.

  10. Always brave to get that close up of a figure but you pull it off again. She looks the bee's knees you must be very happy with the result. You also seem to be upping your production rate and keeping the quality going

    1. I'm finally getting them off the table faster although I've got two figures that are difficult right now. One of them is a fully armoured Knight and I'm trying to do him in gold. Getting shading and highlights are difficult for me with metallics. The other is a Wizard with a tremendous amount of folds in his robes. I'm on my second round of highlights and am now going to glaze him and then hit the highpoints with a near white dry brush.

    2. Just a post titled "Pirate Babes" might get your blog a bunch more hits. Maybe I should paint some too!

      Delete
    3. I had no idea that Pirate Babes were their own genre till someone on TMP told me. Had I known that I'd have bought more than one. I'm definitely painting up a whole crew of these ladies now!

  15. Is it weird that I focused on the shading on the butt crease? Regardless, you've done well, yet again. Also, probably the most violent poem I've ever read. Though, I don't read much poetry.

  16. Those zombies will stand no chance, they will be too busy drooling away even with their brainless display and she will just lop off their head. She may even be able to turn the undead back to living.

    1. Men would die to protect this beauty and perhaps they shall! Maybe one day she'll sail her ghostly ship into your bay Cat.

    3. I wonder who would win in a fight between her and your Viking woman. I'm voting for Suzie unless the Viking woman falls on her first!

    4. I just read about it. Sounds deliciously scandalous. Full male frontal nudity hmmmm...me it blushing :)

      Delete
    5. it does have full frontal and every other kind of nudity :) but it is also very inspiring for conversation about moral choices .... you and hubs could talk for hours about it after every episode ... I know you like that.

    6. We do like to have long rabbit trail discussions, one thing leading into another. I think Netflix has this. Right now we're into watching Charlie Chaplin films. Towards the end of his career he did some marvelous pieces that explored the decline of humanity. They had him deported for it, but what do you expect when someone tells the truth.

      Delete
    7. it's true, it's unusual, but a number of his films always make me cry not laugh.

  18. If I were fighting zombies, I would want to fight them with scimitars too! Perfect for decapitating their ugly heads off their ugly bodies!

What a rockin' body Suzy Swagger is sportin', Anne. Her blue eyes are piercingly beautiful too. Great work once again!

  21. Hi, Anne: she is quite lovely in paint. BTW, her facial features seems to resemble a certain anonymous banana-mickey throwing person. Which would compute that she has had some planetary travel experience.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Hahahaha. She definitely will be traveling in time, but not to present day. She does resemble the banana throwing person. But that lady is in another story and has yet to be painted.

  22. She is a beauty Anne. I see some things that could still be cleaned up a bit but overall she is very well done. Your skin highlights are really looking good and with that amount of skin you really did a bang up job on her.

For a gold metal try shading with a chestnut colored ink and then come back in with the gold on the higher surfaces. That will give a very warm look to the gold without overpowering it.

    1. The white on the right eye is slightly off and the cleavage definitely was sloppy. I had so little space there and got into trouble with the flesh wash. Finally I said "That's it, I have to move on" and put the brush down.

I've just about decided to put the knight into Pine Sol as it's frustrating me too much. I know I can handle silver armour because I've done it before. And I'm broke so I can't buy anything and I've no brown inks.

    1. It's great to see you here! Looks like some fun movies-wish I could build a ship for her to captain. One day I'm going to do a whole crew of Pirate Babes but that will be next year. This story has a strange collection of creatures from different manufacturers. Eureka, Hell Dorado, Thunderbolt Mountain and Dark Sword so far. It's going to be a real mixed up and crazy genre of my own making.

  29. death by desire... the words come to mind. after reading the comments I see many a man who would fall prey to her blade! her eyes give of something that freezes my desire as they are both beautiful but unnatural.

anyway she is and has a beautiful figure. let us just hope that the zombies for their own sake don't go after her, poor sods first they are undead and now they are getting their heads chopped off by the beauty of the seas.
