It's time to give 2012 the boot and welcome in 2013. For the first time since our daughter was born, the Hubby and I will have the house to ourselves for New Years Eve. The Spawn has plans with friends so we're going to get down and get funky with our bad selves!
And after 20 years of having kids around the house, this is what it's' going to feel like at my place tonight!
I would like to end the year with one serious moment and say "Thank You" to my Super Secret Santa, Ian over at The Blog With No Name. This year, The Hubby and I had no money for Christmas presents and only a handful of people knew that. One of those people was Ian and the Saturday before Christmas a package arrived at my house. In that package was lead, lead to paint, lead to make a painter happy, lead that brought tears to my eyes.
Ian was so thoughtful that he remembered a comment I made on his blog months ago about wanting to one day paint an elephant-I now have an elephant to paint. Many of you know of my love for Highlanders, I now have a Highlander to paint. Many of you know I have no static grass for basing. I now have that grass. And many of you know of my fear of 6mm figures, I now have 6mm figures to paint (that's the part that made me cry).
It's New Years Eve people, so turn off those computers, grab a hold of someone you love and love them for all it's worth. I know I will.

Happy New Year Anne!
ReplyDeletetimes go on, children too!
for this evening we will be only 3 at home, our "old" daughter is going to a party with her friends...
It was a great year on the blog-world for me: I've met a lot of nice people, you are one of them!
I understand what you mean with your Christmas gift.... it's one of the great moments of our life which give us a marvellous view of the human spirit.
Many Thanks for all that you give us (me) !
It's hard for me to see my children grow up and grow away. My son is out in the world making his own way and I miss him so much. The Spawn, thank God is still living at home.
DeleteThis was the year I began painting, so it was a good one!
Happy new year indeed.. this will be our first where the little one understands a bit more as to what is happening. So should be interesting in another scale of things.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy it, and looking forward to your projects in the new year.
Une trés bonne Année a vous et vôtre famille Anne .
ReplyDeleteGo mbeannaí Dia duit Vincent!
DeleteWow that really was incredibly sweet and rather quite brilliant of Ian to do that :) I hope you do ring in the new year with a bang, and don't worry/miss the spawn too much.
ReplyDeleteIt was very touching and completely unexpected. The Spawn will be fine, maybe get a little drunk, but she's a big girl now.
DeleteHappy new Year Anne, Ian Kudos to you buddy!
ReplyDeleteI wish you a very Happy New Year Anne. Enjoy painting the new toys and I look forward to seeing the results in 2013!
ReplyDeleteI will certainly enjoy painting. My main goal is to paint a bit faster. I'm horribly slow. Other than that, the hobby is for pure fun!
DeleteHave a really nice time of it and all the best for 2013.
ReplyDeleteHOLA AMIGA
ReplyDeleteFELIZ NOCHE Y FELIZ 2013 QUE ESTE AÑO QUE SE EMPIEZA SE CUMPLAN TODOS TUS DESEOS Y TODAS TUS IDEAS

DeleteHappy New Year Anne. I can't wait for my spawn to leave the house and get a job. See you in 2013.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard for them to find jobs these days. I hope the world is a better place when yours grow up.
DeleteAwwwww yeah! Get funky with your no kids. Happy New Year and Ian is awesome.
ReplyDeletethat was so amazing, have a great new years eve!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Anne! I'm looking forward to seeing the elephant, highlander and 6mm figures once you've painted them.
ReplyDeleteWishing you and yours a wonderful and happy 2013. May your brush skills grow even better :)
Thank you so much Tamisin. I just primed your figure. I decided to turn you into a hot archer babe instead of a dull knight. I hope you like her, because she's got a nice rack to go with her bow :)
DeleteHappy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year, all the best for 2013 :-D
ReplyDeleteCheers

Hi, Anne, wishing you and the Hubby of your youth a new year filled to overflowing with love: The-tie-that-binds-two-together.
ReplyDeleteWe will have that in spades Jay. Till death do us part and beyond for the two of us.
DeleteWhat a wonderful gift Ian gave you.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your precious time with your hubby ringing in the New Year. Wishing you both a Happy and Healthy New Year.
We had a quiet one, watching concerts from our youth and eating in bed. Perfect, just perfect.
DeleteHappy New Year Anne!
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael!
DeleteI'm deeply touched by Ian's gift, darling! Such a lovely gesture.
ReplyDeleteI won't talk about money, since you and I know each other's financial turmoils, so I will wish you and the hubs the naughties possible night tonight :), but don't make any babies, I'm too old to be a nanny :P and all the best to Spawn and the son too! Hope next year I see you all smiling happily from a Christmas card shot in Eire!
I'll be around the blog today, since I'm not going anywhere tonight and plus I sprained my back a bit :) Who knows what kind of mischief and acrobatics me was doing in my sleep while dreaming one of the Hobbit cast members....
No babies coming from me darling. I know what causes them and take measures to prevent them (just don't tell the Prada wearing Pope).
DeleteSorry it took me so long to get back to you. The Hubs and I had such a nice quiet time together and I didn't want to break the spell by getting online.
I can well imagine what you were dreaming Your Royal Naughtiness :)
Sounds like some serious lovin' tonight at your house!!! WHOO HOO!!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah baby, we're gonna rock it like 1999
DeleteThat's one FANTASTIC secret Santa. Ian is a good egg. Glad you are blogging and here's to you and Hubs having a great night.
ReplyDeleteHe's a real gentleman he is. I'm blogging, but not much. I hope you and Tim have a good one after you come home from work!
DeleteWe did, thank you. We ate pizza and watched a movie. Also had homemade onion dip and it was nummy.
DeleteHow wonderful! And after the morning I just had, I needed some wonderful! Happy new year my friend. Let us make 2013 our little bitch!! xx
ReplyDeleteWe need to do something Mel, our lives have been shit for way too long. People will pay in 2013!!!
DeleteCan I get an AMEN?!?!?!
DeleteWonderful thing for him to do, and yeah sucks with money woes indeed. Glad 2012 ha been given the boot and hopefully 2013 is better for us all, be a nice change of pace.
ReplyDeleteWe can only hope Cat, we can only hope. I won't say "It can't get any worse" because that's like asking the devil to dinner. Hope you stop clicking this year you silly feline you!
DeleteYeah it can always get worse, hope the clicking goes too.
DeleteHappy New Year Anne may you find 2013 more prosperous
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy New Year, Anne! And isn't the world a better place because of sweeties like Ian? What a great guy!
ReplyDeleteHRH and I are very excited to hear that the Pirate Cat has been painted and in such a painstaking manner too -- two weeks it took you! OMG. Or perhaps I should say, ARRR.
I have a surprise for you to go along with it. A winged monkey for her companion. Shhhhh don't tell anyone.
DeleteHappy New Year, Anne! That was damn decent of Ian to do that, and we're glad to hear it made your Christmas a good one. You may have to pry this computer out of my cold dead fingers, but I'm gonna try it for the sake of enjoying tonight.
ReplyDeleteWe're gonna be alone tonight, too, for the first time in 11 years. Amazingly, all of our kids have been invited to go places. We haven't been invited any places. We -want- to go out and do something but can't think of a single thing, so it looks like we'll be hanging out at home being boring. But we'll be doing it alone!
ReplyDeleteYou have a good friend there that sends you minis like that!
We'll likely be too tired to really get up to much of anything. The peace and quiet will be enough for two old farts like us!
DeleteThat is so kind of Ian, the guy must be an absolute gentleman in all seriousness, massive props to him. Here's hoping 2013 is a good year for you and the hubby Anne and hopefully you enjoy tonight!
ReplyDeleteIan sounds like an wonderful person and a very thoughtful friend :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year and many blessings in 2013!!!
Hope you and the hubby have a good one Anne, Happy new Year!
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm still worried about you Francis and that I'm praying for you and Ray to find new jobs soon. Be well my friend.
DeleteHave a great new Year sweet Anne!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you my dear Thanos! I'm having a painting crisis. Your muse has base colours on her but I'm nearly paralyzed with fear to try to do the highlights on her. I'm going to put out a plea for advice on how to work through this problem and get past it. I think it happens to all of us at one time or another though.
DeleteThat was a really awesome thing for Ian to do.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Anne.
Thank you Alex, you do the same!
DeleteHappy New Year Anne! I hope 2013 brings you and your family good health and happiness. A few toys to paint doesn't hurt either :-)
ReplyDeleteI've got a list of figures I want to buy. Just waiting for the cash flow to flow again!
DeleteAll the best for a new year Anne, congrats for a great past year of posts and accomplishments.
ReplyDeleteModel on!
New follower for the new year - hat's off to Ian for his great gift. :) Happy New Year!

ReplyDeleteHe's a real sweet person Ian is. Thank you Brian!
Delete6mm...then you' ll need a painting guide :-)
ReplyDeleteObviously I' ll write it for you ;-)
And Happy New Year!
Marzio.
Thank you Marzio!!!!
Deletei think the original intent has def been changed...if you read the original it included 'to be part of a well managed militia' which was overturned by the supreme court a few years ago...thus is not as regulated as it was...it is law that those with psychological issues have to be reported if they obtain or try to obtain a firearm, though i dont know how close that is regulated as it was disregarded in the instance i wrote about...
ReplyDeleteThat's what gets confusing for me. When the Supreme Court can pass rulings that change the Constitution. I thought that only a Constitutional Amendment could do that. So now I don't really understand what freedom the right to bear arms is for. Is it self defense and the right to protect property. Hunting I understand, we do it in Ireland.
DeleteIt's become a complicated issue and I don't always understand what's being said on American blogs.
Happy New Year Ann...
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I always love starting the new year with a fresh start.
ReplyDeleteThat was mighty kind of Ian to do that. Very touching! Humanity does still exist after all...and it warms my heart!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful time with your hubby all to yourself!
Happy new year, Anne!
I spent New Years alone and in front of a computer. Yay for me. ._.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year beautiful lady. I'm glad you were made happy. Simple gestures can go a long way in life. xo
ReplyDeleteThat was indeed a lovely surprise from Ian and very touching to see that the milk of human kindness is still out there, well done that man.
ReplyDeleteTo you and yours Anne have a Great and wonderful New Year and I hope 2013 is the best for you
All the best for 2013 Anne!

What a beautiful gesture! There really are angels among us. One of the best things about 2012 for me was connecting with you. Dez is an angel among us for sure. Here's to a healthy, happy and prosperous 2013 for you and your family. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a neat thing for someone to do for you at the holidays. I have a friend who's always so considerate like that, sending me articles online or links to stuff I like when I make mention of it. Good people. And Happy New Year!!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a happy post. What a generous thing for Ian to do. I hope you and Hubby are still blissfully enjoying the New Year.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for all good things in 2013 and always.
