Where I've Been and Where I'll Be

Last week my attendance on Blogger was spotty and I was late getting to some peoples posts and missed some posts completely.  For that I am sorry. I do my best to be a good follower, but sometimes fall short of the mark.  Because I may have hurt some peoples feelings, I'm going to explain where I was and where I will be next week.

Since my accident with the tram in 2004, I've had 3 reconstructive surgeries on my right knee. I had the last one done in 2007 with the understanding that I would need to have debri and spicules removed every two years. It has been five years since I've had that done, so the knee is in pretty bad shape right now and I am in constant pain. I have not however, allowed that pain to limit my life. I garden, I play drums, I do housework and I take long walks with my dogs.

I spent most of last week at surgeons having x-rays and MRI's which caused me to be late or to miss posts. I have surgery scheduled for Tuesday November 20th and I absolutely will not be commenting on blogs following Monday.  I will return to blogger when I am able. I desperately need people to understand this. To that end,  I will be republishing this post until I know everyone has seen it.

I will post some figures on Monday, and I will be in to comment through Monday.

Thank you.

  1. don't worry Anne! It's life and if we like you, we will be able to understand that you're human and the Blog-World is not the Real World.
Take care of you, and good luck with your surgery .
    I'm with you!

  3. I will be thinking of you next week as I do every day. All will be fine and we shall dance a waltz in no time again ;)
Do you need me to walk the dogs and Fang instead of you, darling?

    1. I shall be wearing a lilac gown darling.

You and the penguins can take the dogs out. Fang does accompany us on our walks. She runs a little ahead of us. It's the cutest thing, it's like she's leading us on a hike. She's suck a diva!

    2. ah, than you're safe, if you pay Fang with some milk or tuna, she will take the dogs out herself :)
My own cats, Goolipher and Nyatza, always run around or in between my legs when I go out, I think they're trying to trip me and kill me so that they could inherit all my money.... they have it all planned out....

We shall dance waltz in our hospital jimjams and nightgowns, darling :) Oh, imagine the fun if we had our surgeries in the same hospital, we could play pranks with the doctors and nurses :)

    3. My dogs are very protective of Fang. When The Spawns cat comes anywhere near her, they bark and drive the other cat off. Fang is such an affectionate kitty she lays amongst the dogs and purrs. They adore her and fret about her safety.

We would drive the hospital staff to distraction wouldn't we? Wheelchair races down the hallways sound like fun to me. I'm quite good in a wheelchair you know. We could organize a rebellion and demand better food for the patients. The penguins would have to come as well darling!

    4. gotta love Fang :) I also had a cat and a dog romance in my house, but it was a gay one :) A tomcat who slept with the dog and he was the only one whom the dog let sleep in his little doghouse.

Ah, yes, you would teach me how to drive a wheelchair and we would annoy the bad nurses and canteen ladies to no extent :) And we would moon the doctors in our hospital gowns LOL We'd be arrested in no time....

    1. Last week I was very late getting to some people and even missed some of my favorite peoples blogs. You know how my guilt works overtime. The Hubby says I need to get over it. I tell him I'm Catholic and the guilt will end when I die!

Hope it goes with ease and they don't give you any fleas on your knees. Then inside they will itch and that will be a bitch. At least you can go for long walks though, my walking ability is from the chair to the couch haha oh what fun.

I really don't know how you blog the way you do with your illness. There's no way I could keep up like you do. I wish there was something they could do for you. I'll tell you what, they've got some of the best doctors in the world in the States and if only you could go to Boston to one of their top hospitals, I bet one of their docs could help you.

I may pop in on Thanksgiving for a short visit though as this place will be deadsville and we can act like total idiots like we did last year on Thanksgiving!

    2. haha god only knows, but keep pushing on I do, until these idiots up here get a clue. Be nice, but pffft to the price, they charge us canadians up the arse for that, already a broke cat haha

Yeah will be quite dead and will be fun just to go with whatever pops in our head.

I hope you're doing ok with your knee. My friend had something similar with both knees (at the same time of course :/) and I remember how tough it was for her after the surgeries. But you are a warrior, so I know you'll be ok! :)

Get the strongest anesthesia they have--you deserve only the best. And hopefully some yummy young doctors as well.... I shall make you some virtual flowers as a get well gift!

  15. Even though we have had our chat I still feel the need to confess on here that I am a shameless bastard!

You are still a great follower even if you don't make it to everyone's post. A good recovery is what's important, not some comment on a shameless blog (mine). Do what you gotta do, we're all here for you and will still be here with open arms when you get back!

    1. You are shameless Dan and that's what makes you so charming. I don't post much and I do try to comment more than I post and generally speaking, that's how it works out. I only posted once last week but I ran late all week and had to take a day away from blogger and that was a disaster!

  19. Anne, what happened to you is a hard trial to which life has undergone but that you face in an exemplary manner. I think you have a great strength in you and are happy to know that a reflection of this force comes to me and to all who know you and appreciate you for your personality, and your intelligence. Each of us has his own life and often happen to miss a post from a friend or simply delay the reading. Who loves you always come back. I wish the best to overcome these difficult tests and I send you my most affectionate greetings. Michele

    1. Thank you so much Michele. Life is full of trials for all of us and we may not be able to choose the circumstances, but we can choose how to respond to them. A positive attitude helps almost all the time.

  20. Oh Anne, that just really sucks. I'm so sorry that you have been in so much pain and that there will be some more in the future. You need to take care of YOU! Don't even worry about commenting. You worry about getting better!! Believe me, I understand completely. I try to post daily (and I usually accomplish this by writing my posts in advance!), but a lot of the time I just plain run out of time to comment - or I am reading from my phone, and commenting from my phone is way less than ideal!

And trust me. I KNOW chronic pain way more than I would like to! You hang in there, and if there is anything I can do, you know where to find me!! xoxo

    1. I'm really used the pain after all these years, but there comes a point where the pain is telling you "something is wrong and it must be fixed" I should have done this three years ago and didn't so it's past time. Really it's routine maintenance and I'll have these regularly throughout the rest of my life. Now is actually a good time for it.

  21. Anne first of all good luck with the surgery, hope it gives the relief from pain you need.

On the subject of bloggng and following, I think you have it wrong. It's starting to sound a chore and that's plain wrong. You do not need a pass out for missing a period of time posting or following blogs. Sure it's nice when you pop by but not a major issue when you don't post or comment. too feel I have not looked at as many as I sould this last week but feel a whole lot better than you about it.

Enjoy your weekend, you know I will ;-)

    1. Sometimes the commenting is a chore as I only post a few times each month, but feel like I must comment 30 days a month. Some people get very angry with me if I miss one of their posts. You'd be surprised at some of the comments that show up a few days after I've posted. Hence, I must moderate them and keep my mouth shut tightly.

I like that Ian, you noticed my closing tag lines! Thank you!!

You go through a lot in your day to day life with your husband being so sick and with all these personal medical worries, we just wish that you'll get back to being better as quickly as possible. 34. No need to tell us where you're coming and going. I think most bloggers are pretty understanding that we all have real lives that fall outside of the blogosphere. The main thing is just to feel better and get back to 100%. The blogging comes second after that.
