40,000 Pageviews and Welcome to My World

For those of you who are new to my page, I've a long standing tradition of celebrating hallmarks such as this in a particular way. And I refuse to change that just because my blog has grown. So let's have a little fun today.

Now isn't she lovely. Go ahead and admit it, you had her up on your bedroom wall when you were young. You know you did, don't lie and you wished she would just step off the poster and into your world. Well she's not real, she's a toon, so get over it.

In the past two months I have gained about 100 new followers, most of them gamer's and painter's and I greatly appreciate your presence on my page, but we still don't know each other very well. Most of you do not know that I'm a drummer before I'm anything else.

I'm currently working on a new drum solo and will post that when I get a recording I can live with. Until then here's something the Hubby and I put together a few years ago. Some of you have heard this before, but the majority of you have not.

This song was composed by the Hubby, he played guitar and keyboards. That's my niece on vocals and me, I'm on drums.

On Wednesday I'll be posting a W.I.P. that shows my efforts at free hand painting on some Foundry and  Hasselfree miniatures. It's not easy and I'll be asking for your constructive criticism.

Everyone have a great day and try to stop thinking about that rabbit at the top of the page.

  1. Congratulations! And I LOVE when you post your original compositions. There's very few things I appreciate more than good drumming (it's really drumming and sushi, close tie). You don't just follow a beat, you remind us that drummers aren't just metronomes and it's an instrument unto itself.
Who is doing the backup vocals? Good on you, your niece and of course your husband, because that's a great song.

    1. Thank you Pickle. A drummer's gotta have swing to be any good. I've been doing it for over 39 years now and been playing with the Hubby for 25, so we work well together.

That's me on backup vocals. I'm about half an octave below her.

  2. I'm just short of 20k page views, at the moment. I haven't decided if I'm going to do anything or not.

I'll have to come back later to listen to the clip. It's bedtime for the kids, and I don't want to give them any more reason to not be doing that.

    1. I celebrate about every 10,000 pageviews and always with a pretty lady. It's a long standing tradition with my page.

No worries, it's a long song and I know a lot of people won't listen and that's okay with me.

    1. I'm very proud of my niece and we're talking about doing another project together. She's had twin boys last year so she's on a bit of a hiatus. Maybe when we go home we can do another CD together.

  8. Congrats!
Wish I had another country to 'go back home' to ;)
Very nice song, when it kicks in suddenly it caught me off-guard, in a good way.
I like how it keeps changing tempo and moods- reminds me of Marillion in that way.
-all of you have great talent.

    1. Thank you Ferret. Now if only we'd let you into Ireland without scads of investment money you would!! Hope Chile works out for you though.

There are a lot of dynamics in this thing and I get the Marillion comparison. I haven't thought of that band in ages. They were good.

    3. Chile is a 'plan B' to Inka coming here- but looking like a very good plan B despite some things being more difficult with it. Time will tell. Yeah, too bad Ireland wants too much money :/

Marillion was great- I don't often think of them anymore either, but something about the song brought it to mind. I saw them in concert once, in a movie theater (!) They were amazing.

-Feel free to use names or whatever else for your project, perfectly fine with me :)

    4. There's a good reason we're making it so difficult for people to immigrate and that's our economy and what the American Music Industry did to us. They sued the country-yes, they sued my country and they forced us to pass our SOPA laws. This caused us to lose millions of dollars in investment monies for IT businesses. And those IT businesses were our only hope of pulling our economy out of the gutter. So we're properly fecked right now.

I do hope things work out for you and Inka and the move. She seems like a lovely girl and just perfect for you.

Thanks for letting me use the names. Those three little dudes are going to be having some fun conversations about creationism vs evolution!

      Delete
    5. Yikes, so SOPA doesn't pass here- but US corporations are powerful enough to force a foreign Nation to pass them? The day I've long predicted: countries being a quaint notion like the British Monarchy, and the real power structure being a 'Corporate Feudalism' across the globe, is getting ever closer. Crazy a sovereign nation could be bowed to corporate will.

Well if I had 300k euros to 'invest' for the privilege I would, but I don't so looks like I won't ;) Too bad- a lot of my clients are in Europe.. think of all the money Ireland could get as I pay it's post office to ship the minis to them, and all the client money going to me there and spent there, instead of to me here and spent here. Small money certainly, but I'd be helping the economy (even if in small money) not hurting it, since my business, if in Ireland, would be nearly all international buyers, so it's trade balance would be cranked high in a favorable percentage... bring all that foreign money into Ireland... they're not going for it? yeah, didn't think so.

Looking forward to your project, sounds fun :)

    6. We had two choices when that went down. We either refused to pass the law or we paid them billions of dollars, which we don't have, or we passed the law and they leave us alone. We passed the law.

We're billions in debt to the Germans for our bailout and we won't pay that off my lifetime. It's different in Ireland when it comes to National Debt. We, the people. are responsible for paying it, not just our government and we don't wiggle out of it like some countries, we pay.

Our immigration laws change all the time. You should check back every now and again. It used to be 8 years of uninterrupted residency and BAM, you're legal.

  10. Hehe congrats Anne on not just so many views, but a nice amount of new followers :) I didn't have a poster of her actually. I don't think she excited me much when I was younger. It could have been that I was just too young, but even now I don't think much of her. Which I guess could be a good thing. Anyway, I love anything you and the hubby put together, and I'm sure I would love some solo work too.

I've laid down the rhythm track for the solo and am now working on the tomwork to solo over the top of that.

I can't get any mail from my provider, they're having horrid problems, so if you wrote to me I might be a bit late in responding, don't know when they will fix the problem. I might kill myself if it doesn't happen soon :)

    1. Thank you Paul. Over 200 and they are all recorded. I have enough of our music recorded that it would take days to listen to it all. And it goes all the way back to when we recorded on actual reel to reel 4 track tape. That stuff is carefully stored and has been digitally remastered. We're working on a new CD right now-it's at just an hour's worth of music without my solo,

So Wellington is a relative, very interesting. And I'm not at all surprised to know that it was something military on your bedroom wall! I was guessing Normans!

Nope, never had her on my wall, never watched roger rabbit until I higher age, so it was more real women on the wall by then, although can't deny if someone could pull a Weird Science and bring her to life that I'd pass her up haha And Great tune as always and 200 of them you say, damn that is a ton.
