I'll Be Back....Eventually

When things reach a certain level of difficulty some Irish people become silent. We don't talk about what is going on and we don't talk about our feelings, not to anyone, not to our family and not to our closest friends.  In my family we call it "going to ground" and it's perfectly normal for us to do it. It is not a depressive state as some Americans might think, it's a going away inside yourself to find a place of solace and of healing.

This is what I have been doing and will be doing for a little time yet. I am just now beginning to deal with emails. If you have emailed me and I haven't responded it's simply because I don't feel like talking to anyone, so please do not be offended.

Also, a great many of you have asked me "What is the Hubby really like?"  And I would answer "He's a lot like Bernard from Black Books." hoping you woul know exactly what I meant. For those of you who don't, here's a clip from the show.

Cantankerous, unkempt, demanding and an inveterate smoker who wants people to shut-up and leave him alone. The Hubby often says "You'r the only woman in the world that could put up with me" and I say "I know"  At the moment the Hubby is subdued and I don't like it. I prefer him this way and hopefully I will have him back to his grouchy old self sooner rather than later.

I'll be around to comment and I may hit republish on this post a few times so those of my friends who aren't in will see it when they return.

Thank you all for your concern, love and for your patience.

  2. you did warn me before of your possible journey to solace and silence, Annzie, so I knew where you were all this time....
We're still thinking of you and sending you energy and positive vibrations. I know you feel them in your solitude.

  3. It's always nice to see you Anne. You've now got me thinking I'm part Irish, because "going to ground" as you put it is certainly something I do. Quite a lot as well. I know Bernard from Black Books and I always thought he was actually a pretty cool guy. So if that's what your hubby is like, you've got a good one there. I hope he can come back to who he was before, and that you can too. I miss you Anne, but I understand.

    1. The changes in his personality and the problems with his memory are of great concern right now. I'm working to orient him to time and place and am trying to find ways to remind him of who he used to be.

  4. Pffft don't try to hide behind the fact that you've spent all this time cleaning cat poo out of your garden. If you think it took a lot of work to do that, you should have seen all the work it took to put it there, the cat was pooped hahahahaha

Hopefully all will get back to as normal as can be soon enough and you can get back to getting rough as Dez just can't handle the cat on his own hahaha

    1. eat my shorts, cat, you know your knees have trembled and your nerves have been like strings due to my discipline measures against you in last few weeks.

    2. Once again you've been betrayed cat!! My new garden kitty Fang has been kicking the shit out of the wimpy cats you've been sending to my garden. I'll be shipping their bodies along with their poo back to you via UPS!!

My computer won't put in the last letter of your name De. Stupid bloody thing. The cat enjoys harsh discipline, it's why he does the horrible things he does. He's quite demented you know.

    3. Elsie and me have kept his ebilness under control in last few weeks, and we made R run away from him when we discovered that the cat was actually using a false profile and was R himself.

    4. I knew it!! That bastard was R all along and to think of all the times I was nice to that gobshite. The Cat shall pay for this one!!

    5. and he has lots of other such profiles that he is using to praise himself at his site... Waffles guy is our next suspect... and then the one which always posts first at his litter bay....

    6. Pfft you will never find the hidden profiles of the cat for such things are beyond the alliance spies. Keeping me at bay? Pfft the cat has been running circles around the penguin man and old one eye. Those petty cats and their poo were just a distraction, you never saw the cat's real goal and won't know it until you sit on it or maybe fall on it, depending on how you find it.

    7. Hey now!!! I will put up with a lot of things cat but calling me old..you better just watch yourself! I'm on a mission in less than two weeks and I'll be very close to your area - so close that I might even be IN your area so start looking over your flea infested shoulders.....my eye will be watching you.....

    8. the cat is doomed when you get him, Elsie!

    9. Pffft you are nowhere near me, I'm still 16 hours away or so. So the cat has no fear of that, but a poo can will be ready just in case.

  5. Anne - good to see you posting again, even if only to say you won't be posting for a while. I'm another one who retreats into their own shell when things get tough, so I know what you're talking about.

Just take the time you need and remember that we'll be thinking of you :)

  6. I was wondrin' to myself, myself I asks, "Where did Anne get off to?" Or, more specifically, "What have you been doing, Al, that you haven't visited Anne's Attic since that A-Z Challenge, ya lazy sack of bird droppings?" It's been that long.
    Now I know.
Take what you need. Need what you take (NOTE: That last bit makes no sense).
    We're not going anywhere.

  23. Anne, tramadol is both an opiate and an SSRI. It's not even a real opiate in fact, it's synthetic and there's where the problems come in. It's not intended to have been an SSRI but it works as one and when coming off them users suffer with both opiate withdrawal and a SSRI deficient mental depression and this is something that's well known and can be read easily all over the internet.

I won't lie that reading the comment did originally annoy me a little, just because it kind of makes me sound to everyone like I don't understand the thing I've been addicted to on and off for the last two and a half years. Although I really appreciate you being so kind I had to delete it. Saying this on here so you can see it, hope things are good with you guys as well Anne.
